Amrit Mahotsav App Innovation Challenge 2021

To celebrate the 75th Independence as Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is launching the Amrit Mahotsav App Innovation Challenge 2021. This challenge is to find the best Indian apps which have the potential to become world-class apps. The mantra is to Make in India, for India and the world. The categories are Culture & Heritage, Health, Education, Social Media, Emerge Tech, Skills, News, Games, Entertainment, Office, Fitness & Nutrition, Agriculture, Business & Retail, Fintech, Navigation and Others. The winners can receive cash prizes up to 8 crore rupees.

Eligibility: Indian entrepreneurs and start-ups are eligible to submit their entries. High School and College students can also participate. Participants are allowed to work in teams of 4 or less.

Accelerator Programme To Support Digital Journalism Organizations In India

GNI Startups Lab India, a four-month accelerator program for independent local journalism organizations, was created by Google News Initiative (GNI) in partnership with Echos and DIGIPUB News India Foundation. This 16-week program will help independent journalism organizations with achieving financial stability and sustainability through intensive coaching and skill training. Google has added support for four new languages – Kannada, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu – in addition to English and Hindi.

10 independent digital news publishers will be selected to participate in the first cohort in India. The participants will benefit from Echos’ experience and DIGIPUB’s network in supporting media startups.

Avenir Cross Industry Innovation Challenge Avenir, in collaboration with Faurecia, is launching an innovation challenge looking for a potential startup ecosystem within India. Some of the relevant categories are Analytics, Fashion, Safety, Robotics, Nanotechnology, etc. The selected candidates can win cash prizes of up to 2 lakh rupees. Eligibility: 1. Startups that are defined and recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT)
  1. Startups who have a valid MVP (Min Viable Product)/ POC (Proof Of Concept).

This program is implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and is supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). 20 startups will be selected from the following sectors: Industrial low GHG tech; Commercial low GHG tech; Storage technologies; Resource efficiency; Food & Agriculture; AI, ML, IoT, Deep Tech. Eligibility: 1. The startups applying should be building a low carbon technology/product that will help reduce GHG emissions.
  1. Startups should not be more than 5 years old.
